GIVING TUESDAY - Giving is a Heartbeat

This year has held a lot of heartbreak for me.
Have you ever had your heart broken? Where you literally can feel it in your body? Are you that in tune with your body? I am.
I'm not just talking emotionally, but in the kind of way that shakes you awake. Like, WOW.
Statistically, women experience heartbreak, both emotional and physical, in ways that often go unseen. And after the sudden passing of my sister in February, I found myself living inside those statistics in the most personal way.
This year reminded me that my work has always been heart work. Go figure that I have been gifting crystal hearts at every event since the inception of EmpowHer Purpose and my sister Petra was and is always right by my side.
Many people don't realize that heart disease is the number one cause of death for women worldwide, not breast cancer, as many assume. It's often called the silent killer because women's symptoms present differently than men's, frequently going undiagnosed until it's too late.
The more we learn, the more we grow, and the more we understand how urgently women need research, education, and preventative care designed specifically for us. And yes, menopause is a key factor in this discussion. Women experience heart disease differently. We're often diagnosed later, misunderstood, or dismissed entirely. Recently, I've had the honor of partnering with organizations who are dedicating their lives, time, and research toward healing the heart, emotionally, physically, and energetically.
As we move through this season of gratitude and reflection, I'm reminded once again that service is one of the purest forms of love. My mother taught me that, not through her words, but through the way she lived. And every Giving Tuesday, I return to that lesson: we give because our hearts ask us to.
This year, I'm choosing to give back in the same place my work begins: the heart, and would love for you to do the same! Keep reading to learn more about these two amazing causes: the UCLA Women’s Cardiovascular Center and BioShift, and how you can support them both this Giving Tuesday.
Supporting these causes means:
💗More research
💗More answers
💗More prevention
💗More lives saved

UCLA Women's Cardiovascular Center

My sister's loss changed me.
It clarified me.
And it redirected me.
It helped me realign my why!
It's not by chance that the kind of Breathwork I teach is one of the keys to brain-heart coherence. When I say the heart knows the way, it's not just a spiritual truth, it's a physiological one. There is always a plan, even if we can't see it in the moment. A divinely laid path pulling us toward something deeper.
The UCLA Women’s Cardiovascular Center is changing these sad statistics I shared above about heart disease. Their work includes:
Research focused solely on women's heart health
Prevention and early detection
Compassionate, personalized clinical care
Education and advocacy for women at every age and stage
When I reached out and shared that we wanted to highlight them for Giving Tuesday, they were genuinely grateful. Their physicians and researchers work tirelessly to change the statistics and offer women the care and visibility we deserve.

Another organization I have more recently become aligned with is BioShift, a nonprofit dedicated to transforming long-term health by funding research and clinical trials in areas that affect every single one of us:

❤️ Heart disease
💙 Cancer
👁️ Glaucoma
At our recent MembHership event, Bruce Cardenas introduced me to BioShift. This organization deeply inspires me by their commitment to improve the longevity of people through three key areas of health. When Bruce spoke at our event I was struck by his conviction to help people as he shared: “Everyone in this room will be touched by heart disease or cancer. BioShift is our chance to do something about it.”
This year has been about alignment for me, connecting my work, my purpose, and my heart with organizations that are truly changing lives.
UCLA Women’s Heart Health brought me clarity and commitment to early detection and transforming lives.
BioShift brought me the possibility to create impact.
Together, they reflect parts of EmpowHer Purpose:
Community, Connection and whole-body wellbeing.
