WHAT'S SO SCARY?

Courage Comes After Action.

What’s So Scary?

What are we actually afraid of?

Failure?
Rejection?
Being judged?
Starting over?
Not knowing what comes next? Let me tell you in all of these experiences above the one sure thing was UNCERTAINTY.  And that is LIFE. Truly.  I have been thinking a lot about this topic lately so settle in and we can dissect this together!

Let me ask you - Are we potentially afraid of becoming someone new? Or being true to the deepest parts of YOU. Your soul's purpose and calling. Let’s be honest, maybe it is all of the above.

This time of year tends to bring all of the emotions to the surface. Graduation season. Summer is approaching. Transitions are happening everywhere. People leaving jobs, entering relationships, moving cities, changing identities, questioning routines, reevaluating priorities. We are even reflective and evaluate our life choices when we watch our own children stepping through the different milestones.

And underneath all of it is one thing most humans quietly wrestle with:

Fear.

Not because we are weak.
Because we are human.

But over time, I’ve become fascinated by something deeper:

Humans will often choose familiar suffering over unfamiliar freedom.

I know I wrestle with each of these obstacles and challenges too. In fact, my life used to be governed by extreme obligation and fear. But addressing fear is a choice. Yes, it IS. And years ago I chose to continue walking through uncomfortable corridors to continue to address my fear. Honestly, sometimes it’s head on and sometimes it’s a moving target, but always a consistent evaluation. In fact, this trip to Egypt was my first ever trip without my family, children or attached to work in my life. I remember tormenting myself to make this decision to go alone. Each one of these experiences tested my courage and boundaries to choose differently and to continue to get to know deeper parts of me.

Let's face it, we stay in jobs that drain us.
Patterns that diminish us.
Conversations we avoid.
Versions of ourselves we’ve already outgrown.

Not because they feel good — but because they feel known. Our nervous system craves certainty. Even painful certainty can feel safer than expansion.

So we cling.
We overthink.
We delay.
We perfect.
We numb.
We stay busy.
We convince ourselves “later” feels safer than now. Even though we parrot there is never a “right” time, we just have to get started.

And somewhere along the way, fear stops being a moment and becomes an identity.

I know this because I lived it. And decided to choose differently.

There was a version of me that looked successful externally but internally lived with constant pressure, fear, people pleasing, over-functioning, and exhaustion. Leaving the corporate world felt terrifying. Choosing a different path in coaching felt so uncertain. Prioritizing wellness, intuition, embodiment, and purpose over performance felt almost irresponsible at times.

In the recent 5 years I have addressed my fears again stepping deeper into somatic healing, the akashic records and breathwork fascilitation. What would people think? Well, it's not their journey it is my own and one I choose to align with daily.

Ultimately I realized something important:

FEAR was not always warning me.

Sometimes fear was simply standing at the edge of expansion.

Sometimes fear was life asking:
“Are you ready to become more honest with yourself?”And perhaps the greatest irony is this:

Many people say they want freedom, peace, alignment, love, purpose, or change… but unconsciously organize their lives around avoiding discomfort instead.

Because transformation requires something many people are never taught:

Choice.

The opposite of suffering is not perfection.
The opposite of suffering is choice. The choice to become aware.
The choice to pause.
The choice to breathe.
The choice to stop abandoning yourself in the name of safety, productivity, or approval.

And this is where I believe fear becomes more than psychological.

Fear lives in the body.

It becomes shallow breathing.
Tight shoulders.
Racing thoughts.
Hypervigilance.
Over-functioning.
Emotional exhaustion.
The inability to rest without guilt.
The inability to trust yourself without certainty.

Which is why healing cannot happen through mindset alone.

You cannot think your way out of fear if your body still believes you are unsafe.

This is why breathwork became such a profound part of my own life and the work I facilitate with others. Breath interrupts survival patterns. It creates awareness. It reconnects us to the body. It allows emotions, truth, grief, possibility, clarity, and courage to move instead of remaining trapped beneath performance and protection.

Because sometimes what we call fear… is actually aliveness trying to emerge.

Sometimes the very thing we are avoiding is the doorway to the next version of ourselves.

So maybe the question is not:
“What’s so scary?”

Maybe the better question is:What could become possible if you stopped letting fear make your decisions for you?

Let's commit to choice and to choosing courage and WHY? It's simple if we - Keep going we keep growing.

Be Well. Do Well.

All my best,

Why Breathwork Feels Like a “Full-Body Reset”

Deep conscious breathing shifts your nervous system from stress mode (fight or flight) into repair mode (rest + digest). Even 30 seconds of intentional breathing can lower cortisol and increase mental clarity. Imagine what 60 minutes can do.
